As ever, all the tracks that make it onto the playlist are aces in my book but if I absolutely, positively had to pick no more than five to check out this week, it’d be these.

Tracks are nice and everything, but albums are where it’s at. These are all the long-players I’ve caught across the month by Australian emerging, independent, and DIY artists.
“Hot Apple Band are a swaggering strut through the pastures, bucolic and zingy but with an arched eyebrow and a smirk the size of a Kansas wheatfield. It’s all big skies and softly rolling hills, but it’s got enough edge to prod you in the kidneys every now and again too.” Gallery Listen
Winter McQuinn’s charm of a set is all twang and tone, vintage high-gain matched with ever-so-slightly oddball melodies. It’s soft fabrics paired with cracked leather and it wears it ever so well. Gallery Listen
