Just Announced: Cancer Bats (And Their Alter-Egos) Crash Into Sydney In June

Canadian hardcore punk all-timers Cancer Bats are bringing both the “standard” mayhem of their usual show plus their Bat Sabbath alter-egos to Sydney for the first time in five years, playing two nights in June at – where else? – Crowbar.

Seven epically aggressive studio albums in, they’ve lost none of their signature fury, which to be fair is about what you’d expect from a band who decided that the best name would come from a combination of sickness and wild animals (‘Pneumonia Hawk’ was another option, apparently).

Their latest LP, ‘Psychic Jailbreak’, proved they were still more than capable of not only riling up crowds but also still more than capable of impressing critics, with a broad spectrum of the heavy music press frothing at the mouth as they moved for the first time to a three-piece format (following the departure of founding member and guitarist Scott Middleton in 2021).

While a Cancer Bats show carries enough heft on its own, they’re also doing a second night where they’ll be performing as their Bat Sabbath alter-egos, which will no doubt be precisely as barking mad as it sounds.

Grab a crash helmet, dive straight in.

Tickets go on sale on Friday April 5th at 10am AEST
