There’s something for everyone in this week’s batch of new music from roaring mayhem to quiet contemplation and all points in between.
As ever, all the tracks that make it onto the playlist are aces in my book but if I had to pick no more than five to check out this week, it’d be these.
🎶 Great Job! tend to make songs about the mistakes we make but their latest is error-free ball, characteristically carefree-sounding but still managing to carry the weight of the world within it.
🎶 Clay J Gladstone return with a typically – and yet even-for-them extremely – bonkers track made of swivelling eyeballs and heavy things falling down stairs. Barking, and brilliant fun.
🎶 Julia Why? blasts off into shoegaze orbit on ‘Pale Blue Dot’, otherworldly, soothing, and galactically loud.
🎶 PEPTALK (ft Jeremy Neale) The synths are rich and the heads are nodding on this gloriously grand pop collab. Camera lights and action.
🎶 Fiz (ft sleepthink) At the gentle end of the spectrum this week is this delightful little number from Fiz and sleepthink, adding skittery bits of percussion to dreamy acoustic textures.
