Each week, I look at all the artists I track on Spotify (over 3,000 of them at the most recent count) and capture their Popularity score, a metric that Spotify assigns to each artist.
I select all the artists with Spotify follower counts less than 20,000 to create a (somewhat arbitrary) pool of “emerging” artists, and then split them into groups of 0-1k followers, 1-5k followers, 5-10k, and 10-20k. Artists with a rank of 10 or higher are shown here.
As a rule of thumb, these are the artists getting the most listener attention right now according to Spotify.
