“Ess-Em celebrate ten years on the tools tonight, with this first set playing the self-titled 2015 album in full, both a reminder of how musical this set has always been and how snarly it has become since. Ess-Em’s decade-grown growl adds a layer of fuck-you to the OG mad shanties, technical chops and music hall with an added headbutt to the bridge of the nose. They play again tomorrow night, and I’ll be there for that too, and for the next ten years, and for the billion years after.”

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge these First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history.
