“Max Steele plays in at least two bands that self-describe with the word ‘doom’, so it’s a delightful surprise to hear this solo acoustic set, chock full of incredibly tricksy guitar work that skitters along next to a rich and powerful vocal. A mischievous set, smattered with covers and non-doomy versions of the full bands’ tracks, it’s deceptively cheery but obviously brimming with skill. A lovely, unusual thing to see.”
