“Velvet Trip in full-band mode are a vortex of psyche and blues, with considerable fuzz and heft. In solo mode we get to see the gentle heart at its core, and while it might be a bit softer at the edges for being exposed to the air, it still beats like a mad ‘un. The guitar skills are still enough to shred the skin off fingers, but the songs are revealed to be as hypnotically lovely as a puppy’s ear.”
