The Underground Stage
“Memory Motel cut through the air like a stiff breeze through fog, swirls and strange shapes and the sense that something very, very toothy is lurking in the dark behind it. Somewhere between danceable shoegaze and a scary campfire story, it’s as atmospheric as it is excitable.” Gallery Listen
“Club Halifax crackle with energy tonight, a set designed from the ground up to keep pulses high and grins wide. Also, just for good measure, a high note appears every now and then to slap you in the chops and make your chin wobble. Fireworks and fun, a hatful of high-altitude song.” Gallery Listen
“Selene And The Strange add oddball twists to a shiny pop core, stomp or snarl or swagger or soul poured liberally over a ridiculously musical base. It’s theatre, not genre, that unifies it all – a riotously happy performance of songs that tread gleefully on the boards. You can’t spell strange without stage, and this […]
“Aria Nova crash through goth and shoegaze with an urgent, jagged edge that adds menace to the mood. There’s a pounding, motorik rhythm under it all that cuts clear through the squalls and the minor chords like a pealing bell. It leaves you a little unnerved, sure, but dancing all the same.” Gallery Listen
“Violet Harbour swerve musically between early PJ Harvey swagger and Winehouse-y blues but – holy shit! – they have a vocal to fit with it. “the band adhd ring with strutting guitars and a sneering pace, the shiny-bell clarity of surfy indie clothed in worn leathers, walking grimy pavements. It might all start off clean but we all end up absolutely filthy.” Gallery Listen
“TANK bring the hair and the blues and the melody from classic rock, but also bring the tight pants and – fuck, yeah! – playing the guitar with your tongue. Great big slabs of a sound you know, deep in your bones, and that lands squarely right there too.” Gallery
