This dashboard shows all the best-performing artists appearing on New Music Friday playlists around the world.
This shows every artist that has appeared on every NMF globally, and then ranks them on the combined follower count of the NMFs they were listed on. Essentially, it’s a chart of which artist has been given the most opportunities to be heard around the world for their new releases this week.
What I find fun to do is to look for those artists with smaller follower counts, who nonetheless received a high-reach list of adds. These are the artists being given super-valuable playlist real estate for a new release, essentially a signal that Spotify is betting big on them before they blow up for real.
Green: top five superstars this week
Yellow: Artists with less than 100k followers
Pink: Artists with less than 10k followers
