Legends Playing In Sydney In March

Taylor Swift may have conquered February, but the pop hits keep coming in March, with punky fury, classic songwriting, and grebo sampling mayhem also soundtracking the month.

Starting with the pop, the biggest show of the month sees P!nk’s Summer Carnival shows come to an end in Sydney with a huge show at the 80,000-plus capacity Accor Stadium. If your sweet tooth is still hankering for more sugary good times though, AQUA – alongside 2Unlimited, East 17, Phats & Small and more – are headlining a huge day of fun. Five are playing at the Metro too, to round out a big month for 90s chart sounds.

If the 80s is more your speed though, pop’s got you covered there too, with Nik Kershaw and Go West co-headlining at Metro Theatre, and The Human League playing Enmore Theatre.

Two UK acts who were active during, yet never really part of the Britpop years are also in town, with the outstanding Teenage Fanclub and the still-mental Pop Will Eat Itself playing at the Metro and at Manning Bar respectively.

If you want to see what true legend status looks like up close though, you’re also spoiled for choice, with Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Peter Garrett & The Alter Egos, and Jimmy Barnes all gracing the stage this month. Punk royalty The Damned will be back it again too, this time with the classic lineup of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray, in what is sure to be a set of blazing, rowdy classics.
