Roundup: Legends Playing In Sydney In April

Once you’ve stuffed yourself to bursting with Easter eggs, there’ll still be plenty of sweet musical treats in April courtesy of some of the biggest legends going.

Starting with the top-shelf classics, Sydney’s got some killer shows in April, with the irrepressible Tom Jones playing on the 4th, and James Taylor on the 23rd, both at the ICC Sydney Theatre. Over on the harbour, the Opera House is putting on two nights of legendary work from Elvis Costello & The Imposters on the 1st & 2nd.

For sheer cool though, it’s going to be hard to beat Nick Cave at the State Theatre on the 29th & 30th. The dark prince of awesome also has May dates too, with these dates kicking off six nights of shows in Sydney, including a date at the ICC.

Turning up the volume, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes (pictured) will be at Crowbar on the 24th – with some crackling new material out in the world, that’ll be a corking show. Canadian pop-punks Simple Plan will be gracing the Hordern on the 13th too, while – if you *really* want to turn it up to full bananas, Japan’s Jet Boys are playing at Mary’s Underground. If you’re in the front row for that, you’ll need earplugs, a crash helmet, and possibly an umbrella.

Cult status heroes are also well catered for in April, with Tex Perkins and The Beasts set for a raucous night at The Metro on 5th, and Melbourne’s folky punks The Go Set playing at The Vanguard on the 12th.

Finally – if all those instruments are just a bit too complicated for you though, and all you want to do is dance like a mad ‘un – then Black Box are playing the Enmore on the 17th, while Chase & Status are at the Hordern on the 20th.
