Most Playlisted This Week
Each week, my robots scour the best Australian new music playlists and look for who is getting the love from the most critics and tastemakers. This week’s podium finishers:
🥇Folk Bitch Trio, Fool Nelson (appeared on 32% of updated playlists)
🥈Cardboard Cutouts (20%)

Takeouts
- It was a much slower week for releases overall because of the Easter weekend – because Friday was a public holiday in Australia, there are less hours available for artists and their teams to put behind releases, so there’s always much less new music overall. This week saw nearly 20% less tracks than last week added to the playlists I monitor, below the 500-track mark overall.
- Alongside less on offer, there was also less agreement across the lists, but two artists managed to make it onto a third of the lists that updated, with Folk Bitch Trio and Fool Nelson taking out the joint top spot.
- Folk Bitch Trio have been reliably well-supported by Aussie playlisters and there’ll no doubt be a degree of home-turf pride in the news they signed to Jagjagwar earlier this week.
- Fool Nelson did super-well to top the list too, but they’ve been on a bit of a growth tear over the last 12 months, and are seeing strong playlist backing too. Becoming ones to watch, IMO.
- No other act made it above the threshold for a podium finish this week except for Cardboard Cutouts, who performed brilliantly to take out the silver ahead of some far more recognisable names.
