Most Playlisted This Week
Each week, my robots scour the best Australian new music playlists and look for who is getting the love from the most critics and tastemakers. This week’s podium finishers:
🥇JACOTÉNE (appeared on 30% of updated playlists)
🥈Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, Bakers Eddy, Vv Pete (25%)

Takeouts
- It was another slow week for releases because of Friday’s public holiday in Australia, leaving us with much less new music overall for the second week in a row. I’d guess there’ll be a tidal wave of new stuff next week when the diary gets back to normal.
- Even with much less available, there was still wide agreement on the ongoing strength of JACOTÉNE‘s music, with her latest, ‘Forgive Me‘, lighting up the room for more Aussie playlisters than any other this week.
- Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird are both widely popular with critics, so their appearance at the top is no surprise, a victory for both good taste and really long band names.
- Bakers Eddy and Vv Pete flew the flag high for more emerging artists this week, making it onto more new music lists than more bold-faced names.
