New Music Friday Roundup: Jung Kook, Duncan Lawrence, Supershy, Averagekidluke

Every week, my robots scour the biggest nine New Music Friday playlists in the world to see whose getting backed hard by the big green machine. This week:

πŸ† The Champ: Jung Kook

It was a weird kind of week, where some of the biggest names in the business – including Alan Walker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paulo Londra – didn’t make it onto all nine of the biggest New Music Friday lists. Meanwhile, there was only a handful that did. The biggest though was Jung Kook’s “Dreamers“, whose hook-up with the World Cup, and backed by the BTS-industrial complex, ensured this was the biggest boldface name on the lists this week.

πŸš€ The Challenger: Supershy

Another member of the rare All-Nine club this week was Supershy, the new Tom Misch vehicle that made it all over the biggest NMFs with “Don’t Let Go“. That Misch pedigree certainly didn’t hurt, but it’s certainly notable that this track made the clean sweep ahead of some sizeable opposition.

πŸ₯Š Punching Above: Duncan Lawrence

Duncan Lawrence was another of the lucky few to make it onto all nine, with “I Want It All” – he might just get it too, with that sort of support for the new track ensuring that the post-Eurovision, post-“Arcade” buzz level remains strong.

πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈ New Blood: Averagekidluke

Only a little further down the list sat Averagekidluke, whose new track “No Good 4 U” made it onto six of the big nine, while the artist is still at a stage of having a couple of thousand Spotify followers. This is likely to change, quickly.
