“Fergus James has that rare quality, the one where you can’t quite figure out why you’re absolutely fucking delighted by what you’re listening to, but you just *are*. He’s playing without a band tonight (so is somehow playing all the instruments, which is both charming and a little mad to watch) but these songs just plug direct into the spine, bypassing the mind and going straight to the feels and the feet. I don’t know how it’s done – and I don’t care – but making a set danceable, emotional, giddy, earnest, and absolutely banging is a trick the Devil himself would be pleased to pull off.”
