Hope D – Common Denominator

Few records are likely to get both hipsters and hen parties dancing together, but Hope D has not only written a song that’s about what people share in common, but a song that can be shared by totally different people. It’s a pop banger, it’s punk as fuck, it’s got a soft core, but it’s got rock-hard edges, and it manages to speak deeper truths while remaining defiantly everyday all at the same time. This is uncommonly good.

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge these First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. I pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend my recognition to their descendants.
