Jack R. Reilly – Some Days

This crackly little wonder comes towards the end of Jack R Reilly’s first full-length album release, ‘Middle Everything, and like much of the LP, it comes off both haunting and comforting at the same time. It’s like that nursery rhyme you remembered years later – you might have been fondly reminded of childhood but there’s no getting away from the fact the lyrics are clearly about The Black Death. Here, Reilly quietly menaces his way through a couple of minutes of snaggly guitar lines, with that delicate vocal lurking in the shadows just over your shoulder, before the whole lid comes off at the end and everything explodes into a carnival of fireworks and noise.
