Private Function – Albury Wodonga

Private Function’s blistered-raw sound is harnessed here in tribute to the twin-city enclave of Albury-Wodonga, which straddles the border between New South Wales and Victoria. It is triumphantly bonkers. If there was any justice, it would be played throughout the streets of its subject, all day and all night. Also: bonus points for having a solo that sounds straight out of the best bits of The Damned.

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge these First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. I pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend my recognition to their descendants.
