Step-Panther – Bike Lock

I’ve been digging along to Step-Panther’s deeply stoned bangers for ever, but this is the most Malkmus-ish one yet. Although it sounds like it’s just one loose thread from falling apart completely, like a drunk Dinosaur Jr, the lyrics in particular are worth paying attention to – there’s a whole verse about losing an eyeball that is pure Dada. Fabulously weird, weirdly fabulous.

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
