“In an unusual intermezzo, we also get a short burlesque routine from Miss Violet Viper, who for a few minutes of tightly choreographed and athletically-performed dance. It’s impressive, and predictably fires up the boys in the bands who are down the front. Not the normal order of things at gigs, but a lot of fun.”

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge these First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. I pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend my recognition to their descendants.
