Belle and Sebastian To Return To Sydney with Badly Drawn Boy

Fetch your cardigans and brush up on French film-making, because indie-pop darlings, Belle and Sebastian, have announced a night at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on 22nd Aug. That show will also feature Badly Drawn Boy, who returns to Australia for the first time in over two decades.

From Belle and Sebastian’s humble beginnings in Glasgow in the 90s, they’ve grown into a genuine global phenomenon, producing nearly three decades of work beloved by audiences and critics alike.

Remarkable at the time for bucking against the 90s’ laddish culture of the time for a delicate and literary sensibility, their astonishing output ever since has stayed inventive and evocative, ensuring they remain as gloriously interesting now as they were when they started.

Damon Gough (aka Badly Drawn Boy) started out in the same era as Belle & Sebastian, but has popped in and out of sight ever since 2002 – whenever he has resurfaced though, it’s always been to wide delight.

For both these veteran and beloved artists to resurface at the same time is a joy – for them both to be playing on the same bill is a rare treat indeed.
