Most Playlisted: Boy & Bear, Big Scary, Jess Day

In a four-way tie, Big Scary, Boy & Bear, Yb. And Ocean Alley shared joint top honours this week for the most adds to the best new music playlists in Australia. Boy & Bear’s return with “Just To Be Kind”, and tracks from Big Scary’s Me and You album were both fresh out this week, but both Yb. And Ocean Alley’s entries saw earlier releases continue to gain widespread support.

🥈Crooked Colours, Jade Imagine, Jess Day, Memphis LK, Subnbeam Sound Machine, Sycco, These New South Whales, Tilly Tjala Thomas

Elsewhere, a crowded pack were only a sliver behind, and again featured a broader mix of brand new and slightly older releases than we normally see. Whatever, the reason, there was a far broader spread among the most added artists this week, which I’m happy to put down to the playlists not being able to pick a winner among this embarrassment of riches.

Story Of The Week though goes to Jess Day, whose EP The Lovers (Reversed) propelled her track “Allie” onto a bigger spread of playlists than many of her more established peers.

The image above is a screenshot of the top end of the full lists. You can see this week’s lists here – those are updated on Mondays and allow you to scroll down the whole list. That page also details a bit more about how the whole thing works and what the charts mean.

You can also listen to the most playlisted tracks on, er, a playlist that I keep updated here. This has got the latest 50-ish most playlisted tracks from the last month or so on it, and it’s a decent spin through recent tracks that Australian new music playlisters are adding. The playlists that I track are the same as the ones listed in the Playlist Guide.
