Genesis Owusu took the crown this week for the most adds to the best Australian new music playlists, with “Tied Up!” appearing on a whopping 41% of the lists that updated. This is the second time in as many releases that Owusu has been the playlisters’ choice, and is one of the most-supported artists of the year so far.
Most Playlisted This Week
🥇Genesis Owusu
🥈Angie McMahon, Maple Glider
🥉Ra Ra Viper, Romanie, Skeleten, Ta-ku
Angie McMahon and Maple Glider were only a nose behind though. In a normal week, the number of adds they received would put them in the driving seat, and to have three artists all appear on over a third of the lists I track represents a remarkably unified show of support.
Elsewhere, Ta-ku’s (in a collab with Milan Ring, matt mcwaters & ?uestlove) received as strong a level of support as you’d expect from an project of that calibre, but both Ra Ra Viper and Skeleten kept pace with that level of adds, a notable level of support for those more emerging acts.
Story Of The Week though goes to Romanie, who received more adds (across some heavy-hitting lists) than some way more established artists.

The image above is a screenshot of the top end of the full lists. You can see this week’s lists here – those are updated on Mondays and allow you to scroll down the whole list. That page also details a bit more about how the whole thing works and what the charts mean.
You can also listen to the most playlisted tracks on, er, a playlist that I keep updated here. This has got the latest 50-ish most playlisted tracks from the last month or so on it, and it’s a decent spin through recent tracks that Australian new music playlisters are adding. The playlists that I track are the same as the ones listed in the Playlist Guide.
