Featured Tracks This Week: #4 2025

There are happy reunions, heady rhythms, and harsh reminders in this week’s crop of new music from emerging, independent, and DIY artists.

As ever, all the tracks that make it onto the playlist are aces in my book but if I had to pick no more than five to check out this week, it’d be these.

🤝 Letters To Lions got back together to write songs after seven years and it went so well they’ve released a song about how well it all went in a song called ‘Seven Years‘. Don’t overthink it.

🎸 The mighty Press Club continue the march towards their next album (‘To All The Ones I Love‘, out May 2), with a typically brilliant, forthright double A-side release.

🔪 Australia’s post-punk tinged moment is still glinting brightly, and new tracks from both Floodlights and Placement highlight some of the razor-sharp quality out there right now.

⬛🟡🟥 There’ll be no dozing off to Andrew Gurruwiwi Band‘s latest absolute banger, based on a Yolŋu children’s story about little ones who refuse to fall asleep being stolen away. It’s a fearsome track on the music alone, but its release just before this particular weekend reminds us that Australia’s nightmares about monsters stealing children away were horrifically real.
