EGOISM – Here’s The Thing

EGOISM’s woozy dream-pop takes a wearier turn here, with a new track that’s as delightful as it is depressed. The guitars are still sparse and sparkle like lens flares, but the lyrics & vocals are considerably more weathered. Melodic refrains recur from previous single ‘You You’ (literally the same “you-oo-oo”), and the contrasting registers are as winning as ever – it all adds up to another free-floating delight from this hyper-sharp pair.

I would like to acknowledge that the gigs that are pictured here, the stages they’re played on, the bars and venues they’re held in, and the good times they represent, are all held on lands that were never ceded by Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge these First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history.
