Collaborations are usually circle-jerk ego-festivals, mostly featuring a couple of roughly-equal sized acts looking to bolster reps and grift some audience from each other. This one’s a bit different – you’d be hard-pressed to argue that WAAX and Illy’s audience have much in common in terms of genre or – being honest – size. This joint effort though is all about authenticity, about the shallow money-trench that is fame, and staying true to your roots – the opposite of most collaborations. It’s all the better for it, and it’s for sure one of the more interesting team-ups of the year. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a typical Illy arms-up banger – adding WAAX into that mix is a casting masterstroke.
