Tracks from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s latest collection dominated the best Australian new music playlists this week, a level of support for this titanic outfit that you’d expect.
Most Playlisted This Week
🥇King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
🥈Death By Denim, Emerson Leif, Horror My Friend, Phoebe Go
🥉Arno Faraji, Cry Club, KANADA THE LOOP, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Vera Blue
Right on their heels though were both Death By Denim and Horror My Friend, whose new tracks – “Magic Daisy” and “Your Life Continued”, respectively – bagged enough slots to make them two of the most added individual tracks. Tracks from Emerson Leif’s new EP also put them in the top tier.
Elsewhere, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Vera Blue both received strong support, while Arno Faraji made it three releases in a row to get into the upper echelons of playlister support. It’s also always a delight to see personal faves Cry Club and KANADA THE LOOP appear so frequently as well.
Story Of The Week though – for the second time this year – goes to the outstanding Phoebe Go, who (as an artist) just missed out on topping the list this week, but as a track (“Be The Player, Not The Poet”) got the most amount of adds, alongside Death By Denim and Horror My Friend. The last few months have seen consistent, then growing support for this exciting artist – as much or more support in fact than artists with many times greater followings.
